Vitamin B12 in its most effective form: Methylcobalamin, which is the biologically active form of Vitamin B12 that does not require conversion and thus can be absorbed directly by the body.
The orodispersible tablet has a strength of 1000 µg.
Recommended daily dose for adults as well
children aged 11 and over: 1 orodispersible tablet
Size: Box with 120 orodispersible tablets.
The proper form of B12 is essential
The traditionally used form of Vitamin B12 in supplements is cyanocobalamin. However, this form must first be converted to hydroxocobalamin, then to adenosylcobalamin to be finally converted to methylcobalamin, which is the form in which B12 is taken up in the body. This transformation is often impaired with age and may be impaired for other reasons such as gastrointestinal problems. In Veg B12, Methylcobalamin, which is the biologically active form of Vitamin B12, does not require conversion and can thus be absorbed directly by the body.
The uptake of Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is less efficiently absorbed without the presence of the protective auxiliary protein, Intrinsic Factor (IF), produced in the stomach. The protein, together with Vitamin B12, forms a complex that allows the absorption of B12 into the small intestine. Reasons for reduced production of Intrinsic Factor may include is due to malnutrition as well as the stomach and intestines
disorders. If B12 deficiency is found, you will typically have to go to the doctor and get regular injections. In recent years, an alternative in the form of high-dose vitamin B12 has been dispensed as orodispersible tablets that are effectively absorbed through the oral mucosa if a biologically active form of B12 is used as in Veg B12.
About the dose in Veg B12
It should be emphasized that although the dosage in Veg B12 is high in relation to the determined reference intake, it is not associated with the risk of overdose and the dosage is within the safe upper limit set by the Danish and European health authorities. The selected dose of 1000 µg is based on the latest research and therapeutic evidence to ensure an effective effect in both short- and long-term use.
What does B12 do for the body?
